Seaweed House

The Maison de l'algue opens its doors to you! The museum is located in Lanildut, at Europe's 1st seaweed unloading port and a stone's throw from the continent's largest kelp field. Discover one of the region's most emblematic activities through an immersive, interactive tour, archive images and a collection of objects, past and present, used to harvest the precious Laminaria Digitata.

Visitors and long-time residents of the Pays d'Iroise can extend their visit by watching the seaweed harvesters at work and the boats being unloaded in the port of Aber-Ildut.

The new museography was supported by the European Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fund and the Brittany Region.

Numerous activities are organized throughout the year around seaweed and the marine environment: cooking workshops, harvesting outings, etc.
