Why take advantage?

Open 7 days a week with free access, the museum L'Ancre An Eor Dans le sillage de l'Amoco Cadiz is a must-see in Portsall. In 1978, the harbour with its turquoise waters suffered a serious oil spill, which the local inhabitants remember as if it were yesterday. Every year, thousands of visitors from all over France pass through the Museum's doors to remember the circumstances of this tragedy and pass on a message to the younger generation: "never again".

On March 16, 1978, the oil tanker Amoco Cadiz sank off Portsall, spilling 227,000 tonnes of oil along 360 km of coastline. An unprecedented economic and ecological disaster that mobilized thousands of people with shovels and buckets to clean up the mess. 14 years of legal action against the American company Amoco, fought with courage by the mayor of Ploudalmézeau, Alphonse Arzel, enabled the municipalities affected to obtain compensation. Through explanatory panels, short films and period photos, the museum takes you to the heart of this disaster, which became an incredible human adventure.

In front of the museum, one of the supertanker's anchors is on display all year round.

During the season, a tourist information office is located inside the museum. Tips, practical information, accommodation, calendar of events and a ticketing service await you:
