Battery

Why take advantage?

Near the GR 34 footpath, at a place called Le Roz, the remains of a coastal defense battery remain, bearing witness to the long struggle between France and England since the 18th century. It was used to defend the Aber Ildut and the coastal landings along the Chenal du Four. It comprises two shore batteries, a guardhouse, a powder magazine, an observation post and a sentry box. The battery was equipped with three 12-pounder cannons. Weighing around 1,500 kg, they could launch their projectiles over 2,500 meters. Open all year round.
