Step 1/4:

DEPARTURE: you can park in the parking lot at the Ty Colo lake.

In 1957, the Saint Renan marshes revealed a large deposit of tin ore, exploited by the Compagnie minière de Saint Renan.
After fifteen years of exploitation, the deposit was exhausted. Today, seven lakes remain. In the heart of the town, the banks of the "Ty Colo", "la Comiren" and "Pontavennec" lakes have been landscaped for the enjoyment of walkers.

This small, isolated building in the middle of the countryside, in the Coat an Ibil wood (Le Bois des Larrons ou des Voleurs)1 , is not actually a chapel! Despite its ancient appearance and dilapidated condition, this building has never served as a place of worship, but as an oratory at best. It was originally a hunting lodge built in 1870 by the owner of the Langongar manor house 300 m away on the other side of the road.

The thieves' chapel

The smooth waters of the Ty Colo lake were the first in Brittany to host an astonishing board sport: wakeboarding on a cable.
